Gaur Ganna Producer Company Limited

Gaur Ganna Producer Company Limited is run out of Ghanshyam Yadav’s house in the village of Godsara Kurda. As the name says, a lot of us around here are into sugarcane. It’s a big part of life in this region and what we spend most of our time thinking about. We formed this producer company because dealing with the sugar mills and the transport can be a real headache for a single farmer. When we group together, we have a bit more say in how things are handled. Ghanshyam’s place is the center of our operations, which is mostly just us sitting around and planning the next truckloads for the mill. We aren't some professional outfit with suits and ties. We wear our work clothes and usually have mud on our boots from the fields. That’s just the reality of farming in Godsara Kurda. We try to help the smaller growers in the village get their cane to the mills on time so nothing goes to waste. It’s a lot of coordination and sometimes the tractors break down or the roads are bad after the monsoon rain. We just deal with those things as they come and try not to complain too much. Being a producer company is just a way to make sure the sugar business works out for the actual farmers. We’ve lived here all our lives and we just want to see the village and our families do okay.
