We started Bps Ekta Producer Company Limited because people in Gaisari Bazargaisari needed a way to deal with the markets better. You can find us over at Padum Kumar Shukla’s place. It isn't a big fancy office with glass doors or anything like that. It's just a spot where we gather to talk about the crops and how to get things moving. Most of us here have been farming these lands for years. We know the soil and we know how hard it can be when the rain doesn't show up or when the prices drop for no reason at all. There are quite a few of us now. We try to help each other out with seeds and getting tools when someone needs them. Padum keeps the papers in order. Gaisari is a busy place, and we are just right in the middle of it, doing what we can. It’s mostly about making sure the people growing the food actually get something for their trouble at the end of the season. Sometimes we sit around for hours just figuring out the transport. It’s not always easy work, and some days are better than others. We don't have a big marketing team telling us what to say. We just show up every morning and see what needs doing next.
