The Karmad Sarvajanik High School

This school is located in Karmad, which is a small place in the Bharuch district. Being a sarvajanik high school, we serve everyone from the surrounding villages. It’s a straightforward operation here. We have the main building and a few rooms for different grades. Most of the kids come from farming backgrounds, so the school schedule follows the rhythm of the local life. It’s not a very loud place except during the lunch hour. We focus on the core subjects because that’s what the students need to pass their exams. The facilities are what you would expect for a village school. We have some benches, blackboards, and a bit of a playground where the boys play cricket when they get a chance. The staff here is small. We all know each other and we know most of the parents too. It’s a very local feel. We don't have many fancy gadgets or high-tech rooms. It’s mostly just pen and paper and talking through the lessons. When the monsoon comes, things get a bit muddy around the entrance, but we manage. The goal is just to give these kids a chance to finish their high school education without having to travel too far from home. It’s a quiet life in Karmad, and the school is just one of the landmarks people use to find their way around the village roads. We keep it simple because that works best for everyone. Sometimes we run out of supplies, but we make do.
