Reliance Guest House

This guest house is located out at the Reliance site in Dahej. It’s basically a place for people to stay when they are visiting the plant for work or meetings. Dahej is a very industrial area, so there’s not much else around here except for the big factories and the port facilities. Our day starts with checking people out and getting the rooms ready for the next set of arrivals. It’s a simple setup, nothing like a luxury hotel you would find in the city. We have basic furniture and we make sure the linens are clean and the bathrooms are scrubbed. The wind coming off the coast brings in a lot of salt and dust, so cleaning is a never-ending task for the staff here. We serve simple, home-style meals in the dining area, mostly for the guys who are too tired to go looking for food elsewhere after a long shift at the site. The phone rings with bookings from the main office in Bharuch, and we just write them down in the big ledger we keep at the desk. Sometimes the electricity flickers when there’s a storm, but we have a backup generator to keep the lights on. It’s a practical place for workers and engineers to get some sleep before their next day of work. We don’t have a fancy lobby or any entertainment. It’s just rooms, a kitchen, and a small area to sit and talk. We’ve been managing this guest house for a while now.
