Shekhwat Granite Industry

Our workshop is tucked away on Old Christian Street, right behind the Government Women's College near Bijipur Chowk. It’s a bit of a quiet spot compared to the main road, which is nice for getting work done. We are in the granite business. That means a lot of cutting, polishing, and heavy lifting. We have the machines running most of the day, so there’s usually a bit of noise and water around the place. We work with raw granite blocks and turn them into slabs that people use for counters or stairs. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until evening. We aren't a corporate entity with a board of directors. It’s just a local industry where we know our craft. People from around the neighborhood come by when they are doing some construction. We show them what we’ve got in the yard. Sometimes we have some really nice pieces with interesting veins, and other times it’s just the standard grey or black. We don't use a lot of fancy talk to sell our stuff. The stone speaks for itself. We just make sure it’s cut to the right size and polished up properly. Being behind the college makes it easy for locals to find us. We’ve been part of the Bijipur Chowk area for years and plan to stay right here.
