Our place, Rashmi Granites Pvt. Ltd., is tucked away in the Last Lane of Baikunth Nagar. It’s near Adhikary Nivas and just off Zenna Hospital Road. It isn't the easiest place to find if you aren't looking for it, but we like it that way. Working with granite is heavy, dusty work. We spend our days surrounded by big slabs of stone and the sound of machines. It’s not a quiet environment by any means. We’ve got stacks of material everywhere. Some people find it messy, but we know exactly where everything is. The crew here has been around stones for a long time. We don't use big words or try to act like we are something we aren't. We just cut stone and move it. The yard can get quite hot in the afternoons, but that’s part of the job. We see a lot of builders and homeowners coming through looking for something specific. We just show them what we have in the back. Sometimes a slab has a crack or the color isn't quite right, and we have to deal with that. It’s a lot of physical labor. We don't have a fancy website or a sales pitch. We just have the stone. Being located near the hospital road means we hear the ambulances sometimes, but mostly it's just the sound of the saws. We just keep working until the sun goes down.
