Wang Unisex Saloon

Wang Unisex Saloon has been operating out of the New Tibetan Shopping Centre for a while. Being on Brigade Road means things are always moving fast right outside our door. We are tucked in at the shopping centre, right next to the Nilgiris building, so it’s easy to spot if you are walking down the main stretch. Since we are a unisex place, we get all sorts of people coming in throughout the day. Some are just passing through the centre and decide they need a quick change, while others have been coming to us since we first opened up. The shop isn't huge, but we make the most of the space we have. Bangalore’s city center is always loud, but inside here, it’s just the sound of scissors and maybe some music on the radio. We don’t try to be like those big fancy chains you see in the malls. It’s a more relaxed vibe here. We talk about the weather or how traffic is getting worse on Brigade Road. Usually, someone is waiting on the bench, reading a paper or looking at their phone. We try to keep things moving so nobody has to wait too long. It’s a mix of regulars and new faces every day. We just focus on doing a decent job so people feel okay when they walk back out into the crowd. It is a busy life but we enjoy it.
