Shades Knots

Our little spot is in Somashettyhalli, near the Chikkabanawara Post. It is a bit out of the main city noise which is nice most of the time. We do a lot of work with textiles and threads here. The name Shades Knots comes from the different colors and the way things are tied together, I suppose. It is a very hands-on job. We spend hours every day working with our fingers and sometimes they get quite sore by the evening. The space is filled with rolls of fabric and bags of different materials. It is not the most organized place but we know where everything is kept. Usually, the radio is playing in the background to keep us going while we work. We have a few people from the local area who help us out when we have a big order to finish. It is a simple operation and we like it that way. The walk to the post office is short so we can send things out easily. We don't really do any big advertising or anything like that. People just hear about us from their neighbors or friends. It feels more like a workshop than a proper business office. Sometimes the neighbor's dog comes and sits by the door while we work. It is just a quiet way to make a living and keep busy with our crafts. It takes a lot of patience to get the knots right.
