Vidyaniketan School

Number 30 in Kempapura is where you’ll find us, right there in the Hebbal area. If you know Bangalore, you know how the traffic can be around the flyover, but once you turn off the main road and get toward the school, it settles down a little bit. The school has been part of this neighborhood for quite a while now. We have some trees in the yard that give a bit of shade when the sun is out, which is nice for the kids when they’re running around during their lunch break. The staff room is usually a bit of a mess with notebooks and half-finished cups of tea. We don’t really go in for anything too polished. The walls are covered in drawings the kids made, and some of them are a bit crooked, but we leave them up anyway. It feels more like a home than a big institution. People around Kempapura know the sound of our morning bell. Sometimes the neighbors complain if the kids get too loud during a football match, but mostly everyone is used to it. We just try to keep things moving along, making sure everyone is where they should be. It’s a lot of work keeping track of everything, but that’s just how it goes at Vidyaniketan. We don’t have a big fancy office, just a desk and some chairs where parents come to talk. It’s a very normal, everyday kind of place. We’ve been here for years and plan to stay for many more to come.
