Venkateshwara Hair Dressers

We’ve been running Venkateshwara Hair Dressers for a long time at No 280 on Nagappa Street. We’re right at the 3rd cross near Vinayaka Circle in Palace Guttahalli. If you can’t find us, just look for the SBI ATM across the street. That’s where most people wait or park their bikes. The shop is a simple one-room setup. We have the old-style barber chairs that are heavy and made of metal. They’ve lasted a long time and they still work great. The walls have some old calendars and photos of gods on them. We start our day early, usually around eight, because the neighborhood wakes up fast. Palace Guttahalli has a lot of narrow lanes, and we’re right in the middle of it all. You can hear the sounds of the city all day, the horns and the people talking. We don’t have air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that spin fast to keep the air moving. It gets hot in the afternoons, but we’re used to it. Most of our regulars are men who have lived here their whole lives. They come in for a shave and a chat about what’s happening in the news. We don't use fancy shampoos or anything like that. We just provide a straightforward service. It’s a steady life, and we like being part of the local scene here. It’s been our livelihood for many years, and we don’t need anything more than that.
