Vachi Beauty Salon

Vachi Beauty Salon is up on the third floor of the 5th Avenue Mall on Brigade Road. It is right next to the Trim and Shape Tattoo Shop, so you might see some interesting people walking by the window. Being in a mall is different from having a shop on the street. It’s a bit more enclosed and you don't hear the traffic as much, though you can hear the hum of the mall's air conditioning all day. The shop is at number 309. I come in every day and get the chairs ready. The mirrors are big and take up most of one wall. Since we are on the third floor, it’s a bit of a walk or an elevator ride up. The mall gets really busy on Friday nights and weekends with all the young people hanging out on Brigade Road. During the week, it’s much quieter. I have a small corner where I keep my supplies and a little stove for making coffee. The floor is made of shiny tiles that I have to mop constantly because of the foot traffic. It’s a small space, but we make it work. Most people who come in are shoppers who need a quick break or people who work in the other mall shops. It’s a decent place to spend the day, looking out at the mall corridor and seeing who comes and goes.
