Tasty Hot

We are over in Mathikere at number 24. Tasty Hot is exactly what it sounds like, just a place where we make hot food. The shop is small and the kitchen takes up most of the space. We have a few benches outside where people sit if they don't want to stand. Mathikere is a local kind of area so we don't get many tourists. It’s mostly students and workers from the nearby offices. We start cooking early because the breakfast crowd is always in a hurry. You can hear the pans clanking and the oil sizzling from the sidewalk. We don't have a fancy menu printed on thick paper, just a board on the wall with the prices written in chalk. Sometimes we run out of things by the afternoon and we have to tell people to come back tomorrow. It’s not perfect, but it’s how we run things. The staff is just a few guys from the neighborhood who know how to cook. We don't wear uniforms, just aprons to keep our clothes from getting stained. It gets very hot in the afternoons because the sun hits the front of the shop directly. We just drink a lot of water and keep going. It’s a basic setup but it works for us and the people who eat here. It gets the job done and we go home tired every day.
