Down here in Malleshwaram, things move at a certain pace, especially around Vyalikaval. Our kitchen at Sgr Catering is usually buzzing pretty early in the morning. Being on 11th C Cross means we’re right in the middle of everything in Kodandaramapuram. We focus on Brahmin style cooking because that’s what we know well and what our families grew up eating. It’s not about being fancy or having a corporate menu. It’s about the sambar smelling right and the rice being cooked just the way it should be. We spend a lot of time sourcing the right spices and making sure the vegetables are fresh. People in Bangalore know their food, so you can't cut corners here. Sometimes the kitchen gets really hot and we’re all tripping over each other to get the orders out for a wedding or a small function, but we manage. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. Usually, someone eats our food at a friend's house and then calls us up the next week. We’ve been in this spot for a bit, and the neighbors know us by now. It’s hard work, standing on your feet all day and lugging big pots around, but seeing a clean plate at the end of a meal makes it worth it. We just keep our heads down and cook our hearts out for anyone who asks us for a proper meal.
