Surana Spices

We are located at 301-A in Kaggadasapura. Surana Spices is where we spend most of our time every day. When you walk into the shop, the first thing you notice is the heavy smell. It’s a mix of everything—turmeric, chili, coriander, and all sorts of dried seeds. Sometimes it makes you sneeze if we are busy packing the fine powders into bags. We buy the spices in bulk and then we get them ready for people to buy in smaller amounts. It involves a lot of weighing and sealing small plastic packets. The shop is a bit small but we manage to fit everything in. Kaggadasapura has grown a lot lately with all the new buildings. There are many more apartments now, so we see new faces all the time. We try to keep the spice bins full so nobody leaves empty-handed. It's important to keep things dry, so we have to be very careful about that, especially when it's the monsoon season and the air is damp. We don't use any fancy marketing or posters. We just have our simple sign outside and the door is usually left open. It’s hard work sometimes, especially if we have to grind things in the back. The noise can be a bit loud for a while. But mostly it's just quiet work, sitting and measuring out the portions. We’ve been here at 301-A for a good while. People know they can find us here. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop. We just do our bit.
