Sumedha (An Integrated Academy)

Sumedha is up on the third floor of Building No. 2 on Sir M Visvewaraya Road. Most people know the spot because we are right across from Real Mart and pretty close to Nano Hospital in Hulimavu. It is a busy stretch of road, especially in the mornings when everyone is heading to work. We call ourselves an integrated academy because we cover a few different things here under one roof. It started out small and just sort of grew as more people asked for help with their studies. The walk up to the third floor keeps us fit, since the lift is sometimes a bit temperamental or slow. Our rooms are filled with benches and whiteboards that have seen better days, but they certainly do the job. We do not have a big marketing budget or anything like that. Most people find us because they live in the neighborhood or heard about us from a neighbor. The staff here are just regular teachers and coordinators who live nearby. We spend a lot of time drinking coffee and figuring out how to explain difficult topics to the students. It is a bit noisy with the traffic outside, but once the fans are on and the class starts, you do not notice it as much. We are not trying to change the world, just trying to help the kids around Hulimavu get through their schoolwork. It is honest work and we like being part of the community.
