You can find us over at APMC Yard in the Kempagowda Market. It’s the first shop there. Honestly, it’s quite noisy in the mornings because of all the trucks coming in. We spend a lot of time just counting sacks and making sure everything is where it should be. The dust gets everywhere, no matter how much we sweep. It’s just the nature of working in Yeshwantpur. Some days are slow and we just sit on the plastic chairs drinking tea. Other days, we don't even have time to eat lunch until four in the afternoon. Dealing with the wholesale side of things is different than a regular shop. You’re always looking at prices and talking to drivers. The office is just a small desk in the corner with a lot of old ledgers piled up. We don't use much technology here, mostly just pens and paper. It’s a bit old-fashioned I guess. People come in looking for bulk stuff and we do what we can. The phone rings all day long with people asking about stocks. Sometimes the connection is bad because of the heavy buildings around us. It's a rough and tumble kind of place, nothing like those clean offices in the city center. We just focus on the trade and getting home before the traffic gets too bad. Being at APMC Yard 1 means we are right at the start of the action. It can be exhausting but it is the life we know. Most of our neighbors are doing the same thing.
