Our yard is out on Koppa Road, near where the Tandur International School is. It’s on Survey Number 88 in the Hullallli area. If you’re driving from Begur towards Jigani Main Road, you’ll probably see the mixers and the piles of materials. It’s a dusty place to work, as you can imagine with concrete. We spend our days making sure the mixes are right and the trucks are loaded up. The machines are loud and the ground is always covered in grey powder. It’s a lot of manual labor and keeping an eye on the clock. We started this because the construction around here never seems to stop. There’s always a new house or a wall being built nearby. We don’t have a fancy showroom. Most people come by to talk about their orders right near the gate where the trucks pull in. It gets hot out there in the sun, but that’s just the nature of the business. We have a small shed for the paperwork and some shade for when we take our breaks. The road out here can get pretty rough when it rains, making it a bit of a challenge for the heavy vehicles. We just keep at it day after day. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s necessary for all the building going on in the district. We’ve been part of this landscape for a good while now, just doing our thing with the cement.
