St. Xaviers School

You can find us over in Bettadasanapura, which is under the Electronic City Post. It’s a bit of a trek if you’re coming from the middle of Bangalore, but it’s a lot more peaceful out here than the city center. The school has been part of this Hobli for quite some time. We have a big gate and a yard where the kids run around during their breaks between classes. It’s a fairly straightforward school. We don’t have any of those modern glass walls or high-tech gadgets that some of the new places have. It’s more about the desks, the blackboards, and the books. My day usually starts with checking the mail and making sure the groundskeeper has finished the morning sweeping. The mornings are the best time here because the air is still fresh before the buses start their engines. We have a lot of local families who send their children to us year after year. You see the same faces every morning at the gate. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, but we just open the windows and keep going. It’s not a complicated operation. We just try to keep things running smoothly so the teachers can get their teaching done. The staff room is always full of tea cups and notebooks. It’s a comfortable, worn-in kind of place that feels like a real part of the local neighborhood.
