St. Francis De Sales High School

This high school is over in Hebbagodi, with the mail going through the Electronic City post office. It’s right in the middle of a very active part of town. You have the big companies on one side and the local markets on the other. Our building has been here for a long time, so it has that lived-in feel to it. The stairs are a bit worn down from all the students walking up and down them every single day. I spend most of my time dealing with the registers and making sure the supplies are stocked up. We aren't trying to be the most modern place in Bangalore; we just focus on the basics. The morning assembly is usually when you see everyone together in the courtyard. It’s a noisy, energetic place to be. We have a lot of trees around the perimeter which helps with the shade when it gets hot in the afternoons. The teachers are usually busy in the staff room grading papers or planning their next hour. It’s a very practical environment for everyone. We don’t use a lot of big words or have fancy meetings. It’s just about getting the work done and making sure the school stays in good shape for the next day. Sometimes the traffic outside is a nightmare, but we’re used to it by now. It's just home for us.
