Sri Ragavendra Veg

Sri Ragavendra Veg has been in Vijaya Nagar for a good while. It is a simple vegetarian place. We do not have soft chairs or air conditioning that works all that well, but the food is honest. We start very early, usually when most people are still asleep, to get the sambar going. The kitchen gets hot fast. You can hear the pressure cookers whistling from the street. We serve a lot of people who are just passing through or heading to work. It is a lot of standing and moving plates around. We do not have a huge menu, just the things we know how to make properly. Sometimes we run out of certain items by the afternoon, and we just have to tell people to try something else. The granite counters are worn down from years of plates sliding across them. It is a noisy place with the clatter of spoons and people shouting orders over the hum of the fans. We do not put much stock in decorations. We would rather spend that time making sure the floors are scrubbed. It is a family-run kind of vibe, even if we are not all related. We have seen kids grow up and start bringing their own children here. It is just a regular part of life in Vijaya Nagar. We keep the lights on and the coffee hot, and that seems to be enough for most folks who stop by.
