Our place is at 164/A in Basavanagudi, right on the Kanakapura Road 2nd Main. We are in the Tata Silk Farm area, which is a bit quieter than the main markets but still gets its share of traffic. We act as an agency for various goods. Most of our day is spent checking inventory and making sure the delivery boys have their lists. We have a lot of crates and boxes sitting around the floor. It’s not a decorated office, just a practical space where we can keep things organized. The building has been here for a long time and you can tell by the old doors and windows. We know the neighbors around here pretty well since we see them every day. Sometimes people stop by just to ask for directions or to see what we are stocking this week. We don’t do any big marketing. We just fulfill the orders as they come in. It’s mostly about keeping track of numbers and making sure nothing gets lost. The traffic on Kanakapura Road can be a headache in the mornings, so we try to get our deliveries out early. We sit on plastic chairs and use an old calculator for most of our work. It’s a very local business and we don’t try to be anything else. We just show up, do the bookkeeping, and move the stock. It’s honest work that keeps us on our feet.
