Sri Mahalakshmi Beauty Centre

Sri Mahalakshmi Beauty Centre is situated on the ground floor of Shariff Plaza. This is Ganigarpet, right on Chennaraya Swamy Temple Street, so the area feels very traditional. You can often hear the temple bells from inside the shop, which is a nice sound to work to. The street outside is quite narrow and always packed with people and carts moving goods around. Inside, the space is laid out simply. I have my main work area set up with a few mirrors and the usual tools of the trade. The floor is a bit worn from all the walking, but I keep it clean. It’s a small shop, so things can feel a bit tight when more than two people are waiting. I usually have the radio playing some local stations in the background. People come in from the market or after visiting the temple. It’s a practical place, nothing like those big shiny parlors you see in the malls. The light inside is a bit dim because the buildings are so close together, so I use a couple of bright tube lights. I spend a lot of time here, from the first thing in the morning until the sun goes down and the street lights flicker on. It’s just how life goes in this part of Bangalore. We do what needs doing and try to keep things moving along smoothly for everyone.
