Sri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Medicals & General Stores is situated in Rajajinagar 2nd Block, specifically at 619/1 on the 36th Cross. It is a bit of a mixed shop because we handle medicines and also carry general items that people might need for their homes. Bangalore traffic can be a real headache, but since we are in a residential block, many people just walk over. We have a glass counter for the medicines and then some open shelves for things like toothpaste, hair oil, and bandages. It is not a very large shop, so things are tucked into every available corner. My nephew helps me out in the evenings when the crowd picks up. We spend a lot of time checking expiry dates on the medicine boxes and making sure the fridge is running for the injections and syrups. Sometimes we have to explain to people that they need a proper prescription before we can give them certain tablets. It is a quiet life for the most part, though the phone rings quite a bit with people asking if we have a specific tonic in stock. We don’t have a big fancy sign, just the name above the door. Most of our regulars are older people who have lived in Rajajinagar for decades. We know who needs what without them even asking sometimes. It is just a practical way to run a store in this part of the city.
