Sri Kalki Traders

You can find Sri Kalki Traders over on 3rd Cross in the 1st Stage of Vijaya Nagar. Our address is 26/24. We are tucked away in a residential area, so it stays relatively quiet compared to the main market area. We mostly trade in wholesale goods like grains and spices, but we sell to local families too. The building is an old one and we use the front room for the shop. There are always big sacks of rice and lentils stacked up against the walls. The smell of cumin and coriander is usually pretty strong when you walk in. My father started this trade forty years ago and I took over after I finished my school. We have a heavy iron scale for weighing everything out. It’s not one of those new digital ones, but it’s still very accurate. We don't spend money on fancy packaging or labels. We just use plain plastic bags and old newspapers. Most of our customers come from the nearby houses in Vijaya Nagar. They often bring their own containers to fill up. We keep a ledger for the regulars who pay their bills at the end of the month. It’s a simple way of doing things that works for us. We don't have a website. If people need something, they just walk down the street. We close for lunch every day around two o’clock for about an hour. It gives us a chance to recharge before the evening rush starts.
