Located at 43/A 4 in the APMC Yard of Basavanagudi, we are right in the middle of a very traditional part of town. This is the 5th Main and 3rd Cross area. Our shop feels old because it is. We have these heavy wooden doors that take two people to slide open in the morning. Inside, it’s mostly stacks of bags filled with various pulses and grains. The air smells like raw earth and dried goods. We spend a lot of time sitting at our old wooden desk, which has scratches and marks from years of use. We use a simple weighing machine that has been with us for a long time. It’s very accurate though. People come here to buy in bulk for their homes or for small eateries nearby. We don't have any neon signs or fancy lights. Just a couple of bulbs hanging from the rafters. The yard outside is always busy with carts and cycles moving goods. We have to be careful when stepping out so we don’t get in anyone's way. Our paperwork is all done by hand in those red-covered books. It’s a slow process sometimes, but we prefer it that way. We know our customers well and we know what they usually need without them even asking. Most of the day is just moving things from one spot to another and making sure the bags stay dry. It’s quiet work in a busy place.
