Sri Akshaya Upahar

Sri Akshaya Upahar is right there on Krishnarajendra road, near the Mamunaik Pole. It’s a spot that’s easy to miss if you’re driving too fast, but the people walking by know us. We do a lot of business in the mornings. It’s mostly about getting things done quickly because everyone is in a hurry to get to the bus or their office. We have the big stainless steel counters and the smell of coffee is usually everywhere by 7 AM. It’s a lot of hard work, especially with the steam and the constant cleaning. We don't have a big story about why we started. We just needed a business and this is what we knew how to do. The address on KR Road is busy all day, so there’s always noise from the buses and the horns. We just keep our heads down and work. The tiles on the floor are a bit old and some of the chairs wobble a little if you sit a certain way, but it’s a solid place. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls. It’s just a place to eat and then get going. We see a lot of different people from all walks of life. It makes the day go by fast. We’re just a regular part of the street, doing what we can to keep the doors open and the kitchen running.
