Spice & Nuts

New Thippasandra is a busy place, and our shop on Jangali Maharaj Road 229 is right in the middle of it. Spice & Nuts is the kind of place where your nose starts tingling the moment you step inside. We spend hours every morning sorting through bags of cashews, almonds, and walnuts to make sure there aren't any bad ones. The spices are kept in big glass jars that we have to wipe down every day because the dust from the street gets everywhere. We don't have any marketing people or anyone telling us how to talk to customers. We just tell them what is fresh and what came in that morning. Most of our day is spent scooping things into paper bags and weighing them on the digital scale. It’s a bit cramped in here because we try to fit so many different things on the shelves. You’ve got pepper from the coast and cardamom that smells like the hills. People come in asking for things I’ve never heard of sometimes, and we have to go look it up or ask the older guys. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and dealing with the noise of the traffic on Jangali Maharaj Road. We don't have a mission statement or anything. We just sell nuts and spices to whoever walks through the door.
