Sookshma Glass

Sookshma Glass is located at 21/5 Kanakapura Road, on 9th Main in the 3rd Block. We are right behind Manasa Theatre, which is a good landmark for people trying to find us. Working with glass means you have to be careful all the time. Our space is filled with sheets of glass of different sizes leaning against the walls. You have to watch your step so you don’t bump into anything. It’s a bit dusty because of the cutting and handling, but that is just part of the trade. We have been in this part of Jayanagar for quite some time now. The neighborhood is mostly quiet, but you get the noise from the theatre crowds sometimes in the evenings. We usually have a few guys working in the back, cutting pieces to size and loading them onto the delivery rickshaws. The office part is just a small desk near the front where we keep the receipts and the phone. It’s not the kind of place where you’d find fancy decorations. We just have the tools we need and the glass we sell. Sometimes we sit outside on the steps when things are slow and just watch the traffic go by on Kanakapura Road. It’s a steady kind of life, working with our hands and making sure the glass gets to where it needs to go without breaking into a million pieces. We finish up around sunset and close the shutters.
