Sms Earth Movers is situated at Door No. 2 on the 14th Cross in Wilson Garden. We are very close to the Shanti Nagar Bus Stop, so there is always a lot of traffic and people walking past our entrance. It can be a bit of a challenge to get the big vehicles in and out of the lane when the street is crowded. Our office is a simple room where we keep track of the schedules and the maintenance of our fleet. You’ll usually find a few of us hanging around there between jobs, drinking tea and checking the engines. The walls have some old calendars and charts pinned up. It’s not the quietest place to work because of the city noise, but we are used to it by now. We handle everything from small digging jobs to larger projects. The work is physically demanding and we are often out in the sun for most of the day. We don’t have a big corporate structure; it’s just a small team of us making sure the equipment is ready to go whenever it is needed. Being so close to the bus stop makes it easy for people to find us if they are looking. We just focus on the task at hand and try to keep things running as smoothly as we can. It’s a busy life but we enjoy the routine of it and the people we meet.
