I’m Naveen P.V. and I’m a site engineer working out of Bangalore. I stay at Shantiniketan, which is house number 150 on the 5th Cross in H.M.T. Layout. This is in the Mathikere area, and I’m here with Manoj Kumar Singh. Being in Bangalore, the traffic is always a bit of a nightmare, but Mathikere is a good spot to be based. I spend most of my time out on different project sites, but this is where I do all my planning and prep work. My day usually starts early because if you don't beat the morning rush, you’re stuck for hours. As a site engineer, my job is mostly about watching over the construction and making sure nobody is cutting corners. It’s a lot of walking, a lot of measuring, and a fair bit of arguing with suppliers when things don’t arrive. I don’t have a big glossy brochure or a polished sales pitch. I just do the work. The Shantiniketan building is where I keep all my maps and technical stuff. People in H.M.T. Layout see me coming and going all the time. It is a regular job with regular problems, like rain stopping the pour or a machine breaking down. I just deal with things as they come. It’s not always pretty, but the buildings get finished eventually. That’s just the life of an engineer in this city.
