If you find yourself in Ulsoor, Bangalore, you might come across No-7 on G 11th Street in Jogupalya. That’s where Shashi Kala operates. It’s tucked away in one of those narrow streets that Bangalore is famous for. You know the kind, where you have to watch out for scooters every two seconds. The building isn't new, and it has that lived-in feel that you only get with older spots in this city. I spend most of my time here, surrounded by whatever projects are currently on the table. It’s not a corporate office with a lobby or anything like that. It’s more of a practical space where we just get on with things. The 560008 pin code area has changed a lot over the years, but this little corner of Jogupalya stays pretty much the same. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy when the local festivals are on, but otherwise, it’s a good place to work. We don't have a big sign or anything. It’s just a door and a bell. I like it this way because it keeps things simple. No need for complicated systems when you can just talk to people face-to-face. Usually, there’s a stray cat or two hanging around the entrance. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but that’s just how it goes when you’re busy. We aren't trying to impress anyone, just doing the work that needs doing every single day. It's just the way things are here in this part of town.
