Sharmas

Sharmas is a bit hidden if you aren't looking closely. We are at 434 on the Lower Ground floor, right below that big boot showroom on Jumma Masjid Road. Being in Shivaji Nagar, there is always something going on outside our door. People are constantly walking past, and you can hear the traffic from the main road all day long. Since we are in the basement area, it stays a little cooler in here during the summer, which is nice when the heat gets bad. We have been in this location for quite some time now. The space isn't very big, so we have to be careful about how we stack our boxes so they don't fall over on anyone. We don't have a big team of people; it’s just a few of us who know the business inside and out. We don't spend money on fancy catalogs or advertisements to get people in. Most of our customers come in because they saw our small sign near the stairs or because a friend told them where to find us. Sometimes the power goes out in this block, and we have to use candles or torches to find things in the back of the shop, but we are used to it by now. It’s a practical sort of place. We focus on our work and try to be helpful to whoever walks down those steps. It’s not a glamorous job at all, but it is our living and we like it.
