Shanthi Stores

Shanthi Stores is down in Cottonpet on Bindy Mill Road. It is one of those old parts of Bangalore where the roads are tight and the buildings are packed together. Our place is basically a large room filled with heavy bags and stacks of goods. The floor is concrete and has a few cracks near the entrance. Most of the time, the air is thick with the smell of whatever we just unloaded from the trucks. We deal with a lot of heavy lifting here, moving sacks from the back to the front. There’s a wooden counter near the door that’s been there since we started. The lighting isn't great, just a couple of bulbs hanging from the high ceiling. You can hear the noise from the mill nearby and the constant sound of carts being pushed over the cobbles. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when the suppliers arrive. We don’t have a fancy website or anything like that. People just know where we are because we’ve been at this spot for a long time. Sometimes we sit on the steps outside for a bit of air when things get quiet. The shelves are made of thick wood and they are always a bit dusty. It’s just a practical place for daily business. We try to keep things simple and just focus on getting the work done every day. There is no point in complicating things when the routine works.
