Shaadi Ki Biryani

We set up Shaadi Ki Biryani near Commercial Street on Politecnic Road. If you've ever been to a local wedding, you know the kind of food we make. That's the whole idea behind why we chose the name. We wanted to bring that specific taste to a regular shop for people to eat any day. Commercial Street is always crowded with shoppers, so it’s a bit of a hectic spot for us. People are always walking by with heavy shopping bags. We have a small space where we serve the biryani. It’s mostly about the rice and the spices we use. We don't have a huge menu with fifty different things to choose from. We just do a few things but we do them every single day. The pots we use are huge and heavy. We use a lot of onions and ginger to get the flavor right. You can see the steam coming off the plates when we dish it out. It gets very busy around lunchtime. We don't have fancy uniforms or a polished corporate look. We're just here to cook and serve the food. Sometimes we run out of biryani before the sun goes down because we only make so much. It’s hard to judge how much to cook sometimes. We try to get it right. The staff has been with us for a while now. We're all just regular people trying to make a living. It’s a good spot to be.
