Satyagiri Masala

We are based at 25 Brooke Field in Electronic City. It is a bit of a strange spot for a masala business because most of our neighbors are big technology companies with glass buildings. Satyagiri Masala is a bit different. We have our grinding machines going for most of the day. They make a constant low humming sound that you eventually stop noticing. We bring in whole spices in large burlap sacks. We roast them in small batches before they go into the grinders. The smell is very strong and sometimes it makes us sneeze. We have a few workers who handle the packing. We do it all by hand, filling the bags and sealing them with a small heat machine. We don't have any big marketing plans or a sales team. We just rely on people liking the taste of what we make. Our labels are very plain and we stick them on ourselves. The office is just a desk in the corner of the warehouse. It’s often covered in a fine layer of spice dust no matter how much we clean. We have a small table where we eat our lunch. Usually, we just bring something from home. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon and we have to wait for the generator to kick in. It’s just the daily routine for us here. We don't try to be anything we are not.
