Our factory is situated at B-69, -A 3rd Stage in the Peenya Industrial Estate. Peenya is a massive area, and it can be easy to get lost among all the warehouses and manufacturing units, but we’ve been at this spot for a long time. Satish Engg. Co. Ltd. is basically a big shed where we do all our engineering work. It’s loud, it’s dusty, and there is always the sound of metal hitting metal or the hum of a generator in the background. We don’t have any carpets or fancy lighting here. The floor is concrete and usually has some oil spots on it. We spend our hours at the machines, making sure everything is running the way it should. The air gets quite hot in the afternoons, so we usually have the big fans blowing at full speed. Working in the 3rd Stage of Peenya means we are surrounded by other people doing similar heavy work. We often go out for a quick tea at the stall around the corner just to get a break from the noise. It’s not a glamorous job, but we take it as it comes. There’s a lot of routine involved in engineering—checking measurements, fixing parts, and keeping the machines maintained. We just show up every morning and get through the list of tasks we have for the day.
