I usually have a cup of tea from the stall nearby before I start the day's work. It’s not a fancy salon with air conditioning; we just use the ceiling fans to stay cool. The windows are usually kept open to let some air in. Sometimes children from the neighborhood peek in while they’re playing outside. It’s a local spot where people from the nearby houses come to get their hair trimmed. I know most of the neighbors by name. The routine stays mostly the same every day. I sharpen my scissors, wait for the first customer, and watch the traffic move along Jain Temple Road. It’s a honest way to spend the day, and I like being part of the neighborhood here.
