Sai Ganesh Tiffin Centre is at 14 BVK Iyengar Road. Traffic here is always a total mess because of all the wholesalers and laborers nearby. Every single morning, usually well before sunrise, we start getting the batter ready for the day. You won't find any chairs or tables inside. Instead, customers just stand out on the sidewalk eating their breakfast before they have to open their own shops. Most of our sales are just simple idli, vada, and dosa. Because the kitchen is tiny, those big iron griddles make it feel like an oven in there by 8 AM. My wife and I have been doing this together for about six years now. There's no fancy neon sign or bright lights to attract people to the door. Instead, folks usually just follow the smell of fresh sambar or the long line of people already waiting out front. If we happen to run out of chutney, the crowd gets a bit restless and impatient. Keeping up with everyone who is in a hurry isn't always easy. Between the heavy trucks and the rickshaws honking constantly, it stays very noisy all morning long. No one here really talks about fancy food philosophy or anything. It is just about serving something hot that tastes right to the working people. Making a living this way is hard work, but it's our daily routine now. We wake up early, serve the rush, and then we stop when the batter finally runs out. It is a simple life for us.
