Rex Dawakhana

Rex Dawakhana is over at 4 Kumbarpet in the area they call H K K Land. It is a very old part of the city, and the streets are quite narrow. You might have to walk a bit because parking a car nearby is nearly impossible with all the shoppers and carts moving around. Our shop is small and has that old-fashioned feel to it. We have been here for many years, and not much has changed inside. There are wooden shelves lined with glass bottles and jars filled with various herbs and traditional preparations. It smells quite strongly of spices and dried plants when you first walk in, but you get used to it quickly. We do not have a fancy waiting room with air conditioning. There are just a few simple benches where people sit and wait their turn. We talk to people about what is bothering them and then find what they need from our shelves. It is a very direct way of doing things. We know many of the families who live in Kumbarpet because they have been coming to us for generations. The floor is a bit worn down from all the feet walking over it, and the walls are covered in old calendars. We do not have a computer for billing or anything, we just write it all down by hand. It is a humble place, but it serves the neighborhood well. People know us as a reliable spot for old remedies.
