Ranganatha Veg

We are located at 144/2 on Mysore Road in Chamrajpet. It’s a busy part of town with a lot of trucks and buses constantly moving outside our door. We open up Ranganatha Veg quite early in the morning. By the time the sun is up, we already have the coffee brewing and the idlis steaming. It’s a simple vegetarian place for people who need a quick meal before they head to work. We have a small crew and we’ve all been working together for a long time. The kitchen is always noisy with the sound of metal spoons hitting big pots. We don't use any fancy gadgets. Everything is done by hand, from grinding the chutneys to chopping the vegetables. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we are too busy to worry about that right now. We don't do any advertising. Most of our customers are people who work nearby or live in the old houses around here. We try to keep the food consistent so people know what to expect when they walk in. It’s not a fancy restaurant where you sit for hours. It’s a place to eat, pay, and get on with your day. We close up once the dinner rush is over and start the whole cleaning process for the next morning. It’s hard work but it’s what we do.
