Prakash Book Centre

Prakash Book Centre is our little shop located at 5/2 Ramesh Laxmi Market on Bandimout Avenue Road Cross. If you have ever been to the market, you know how crowded it can get with people looking for all sorts of things. Our space is filled from floor to ceiling with books of all kinds, and honestly, it is a bit of a struggle to keep them all in order. I often find myself searching through tall stacks just to find one specific title a customer asked for. The Avenue Road Cross area is always full of energy, and we have been a part of it for quite a few years. It is not a modern bookstore with coffee and sofas; it is just a place with lots of paper and the smell of old ink. I spend most of my day sitting behind the small wooden counter, waiting for students or readers to come in. The lighting isn't the brightest, and some of the shelves are a bit wobbly, but the books are what matter. On rainy days, it gets a bit damp, so we have to be careful with the stock. Being in Ramesh Laxmi Market means we hear the sounds of the other vendors all day long. It is a simple, dusty, and busy place to work. We don't use any fancy computers to track what we have, mostly I just rely on my memory to find things.
