Rahamath Stores

If you walk down Kathriguppe University Road, you’ll find us at number 187. We’re in that New Bhatar area where the students are always walking back and forth from the campus. It’s a lively spot to have a shop. We spend a lot of time just rearranging the shelves and making sure everything is where it should be. The floor is a bit worn down from all the feet coming in and out over the years. We’ve thought about painting the walls a new color, but then we just get busy with the daily deliveries and forget all about it. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so there’s usually someone you know behind the counter. We don't use any high-tech systems for keeping track of stuff; mostly it’s just notebooks and memory. The front door squeaks every time it opens, which is actually helpful because it lets us know when someone is there. In the mornings, the sun hits the front window directly, so it gets a bit warm inside until we pull the shade down halfway. It isn't a perfect place, but it's ours. We see a lot of the same faces every day, people living nearby or workers stopping in on their lunch break. Rahamath Stores has been a part of this street for a long time, and we just keep doing what we do every day.
