Race Tutorials

Race Tutorials is tucked away in the Roshan Cooperative Society, which you can find in New Nana Peth, Vidyanagar. It’s a residential building, so we share the space with families living their lives. Our part of it is set up with some classrooms. We have rows of desks and chairs that have been used by a lot of students over the years. The walls have a few posters about math or science, but mostly they’re just plain. We don't have a big reception area; I usually just sit at a table near the door to greet everyone as they come in. New Nana Peth is a pretty active area, so there’s always something going on outside. During the monsoon, the rain against the windows can be quite loud, but we just talk a bit louder so the students can hear the lesson. We have a small cupboard where we keep all the extra chalk and notebooks. It’s not a high-tech learning center with tablets and screens. It’s a place where you sit down with a book and a pen and actually do the work. We’ve been part of the Roshan Cooperative Society for a good while, so we know our neighbors well. Most of the kids who come here live just a few streets away. It’s a simple, local setup. We show up every day, open the doors, and get to teaching. It’s what we know how to do best.
