We have been here on Veera Pillai Street for quite some time now. Our shop is just across from the Shirdi Sai Bhavan, so we see people going in and out of the temple all day. It is a busy part of Bangalore, 560001, and things get loud outside with all the bikes and cars zooming past. Inside the shop, we just keep things very simple. We have the usual chairs and mirrors, and we mostly talk about the weather or what is happening in the neighborhood while working. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just wait it out or use the small backup light if it is getting dark. The people living around here know us well, and we know most of them by name. People often stop by after their morning prayers or when they are just walking through the market area to get their groceries. We don’t really do anything fancy here, just hair cutting and the usual stuff you expect from a local barber. Sometimes it gets very crowded on weekends, especially on Sunday mornings, so people end up waiting on the wooden bench or just standing outside talking. It is not a big place, but it serves the purpose for us and the locals. We show up early, pull up the shutters, and start the day with a bit of cleaning. The street is always full of life, with the tea stall nearby and the flower sellers. It’s been our routine for years now.
