Prof K R Ramakrishnan

I spend most of my days over at the Computer Vision Lab. It’s tucked inside the Electrical Department at Iisc-Bangalore. If you’ve ever walked around the campus, you know it’s a lot of trees and old buildings. My name is Prof K R Ramakrishnan and this is where I do my work. It’s not a shop or a retail store, just a lab filled with computers and cables everywhere. Sometimes it gets a bit messy with all the equipment, but that is how research looks. People come in and out, students mostly, and we just focus on the projects at hand. Being in Bangalore means the weather is usually alright, even if the traffic outside the gates is a mess. I’ve been at the institute for quite some time now. It’s a quiet place to think, mostly. We don’t have a marketing team or anyone writing fancy brochures for us. It’s just a workspace in an academic building. You find us by following the hallways in the Electrical Dept. There’s no big sign out front, just the lab door. It’s a practical setup for the kind of stuff we do. Nothing more, nothing less. I like the routine of coming here every day. It’s just where the work happens, plain and simple. I've got my books and my screens and that's all I really need.
