Preethi Condiments

You can find Preethi Condiments over on ST Paul Street in Krishnarajpuram. Our shop is one of those places where you can find all the small things you need for the kitchen, like spices and local snacks. ST Paul Street is usually quite busy with people walking to the station or the market, so we get a lot of foot traffic. The shop is filled with the smell of different powders and dried goods. We spend a lot of time weighing out portions into small plastic bags and tying them up with rubber bands. It’s a lot of manual work, and our hands usually smell like turmeric or chili by the end of the day. The shelves are old wooden ones that we painted ourselves a long time ago. We don't really have a manager or anything like that, just a couple of us who take turns at the counter. When the weather is hot, we keep the door wide open to catch any breeze from the street. It’s a simple setup with a metal cash box and a notebook where we write down what we need to order. Most of our customers live right here in KR Puram and stop in while they are doing their other errands. We don't do any advertising, we just rely on people knowing where we are and what we have on the shelves each day. It is a quiet but steady life.
