Prathap Stores

Prathap Stores is located at number 20 in the Ankit Chamber building, near Danev Park in Nicol Gam, right on Avenue Road. We’re basically a general store where we stock all sorts of things that people might need for their homes. The shelves are pretty high and we have boxes stacked in the corners because space is a bit tight. We sell everything from household items to small stationary goods. It can be a bit hard to find things sometimes if you don't know where to look, but we usually know exactly which pile something is in. The area around Avenue Road is always crowded and noisy, so there's a lot of dust and movement all the time. We open up early and don't usually close until late in the evening. There are just two or three of us working here at any given time. We spend a lot of time counting stock and talking to the people who stop by. We don't have a computer system for our sales; we just write things down in a ledger and use a simple calculator. It’s the way we’ve always done it. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us. We know most of our regular customers who live in the Nicol Gam area and they often stop for a chat while they shop. Sometimes we get deliveries that take up the whole entrance, and we have to move things quickly to let people in. It's just a normal, busy shop and we try to keep it going.
