Portland Steakhouse Cafe

If you walk down MG Road and turn onto the 1st Cross near C G Road Number 1, you’ll find us tucked away in Basavanagar. This is Portland Steakhouse Cafe, though most people just call it the cafe. We’ve been at this spot for a while now, and the building has its quirks, like that one door that creaks if you don’t pull it just right. The kitchen stays hot, especially during the lunch rush when the grills are going full blast. We spend a lot of time prepping meat and chopping vegetables on the heavy wooden blocks in the back. It’s not always quiet here; there’s usually the sound of plates clinking and people talking over their meals. We don’t go in for fancy tablecloths or expensive lighting. The chairs are sturdy and the floors are easy to sweep at the end of a long shift. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the front entrance, so we have to put a rug down, but nobody seems to mind much. Working in this part of town means we see all sorts of people, from office workers in a hurry to folks just out for a walk. We just focus on getting the orders right and making sure nobody leaves hungry. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and dealing with the heat, but it’s what we do. We hope to stay on this corner for many more years.
