Naveen Cement Co. operates out of two different spots here in Shanthi Nagar, specifically at 478 and 499. It can be a bit of a juggle going back and forth between the two numbers, especially when we have a lot of trucks coming in at once. Shanthi Nagar is mostly a quiet area, but our corner gets quite loud when the loading starts. We handle heavy cement bags all day long, and if you look at our clothes by the end of the shift, you can definitely tell what we do for a living. The dust is just part of the job. We don’t have a big team or anything, just a few of us who have been working together for years now. We know where everything is kept, even if it looks a bit messy to someone walking in for the first time. We try to keep the paperwork straight, though sometimes a receipt gets misplaced under a coffee mug or a stack of orders. It’s a simple operation really. We don’t use any of those complicated computer systems for everything; a lot of it is still done with pen and paper because that’s what we’re used to. People around here know they can just stop by and talk to us directly. We’ve been at these plots for long enough that we feel like part of the local scenery in Shanthi Nagar. The neighbors don't seem to mind the noise too much, as they're often the ones buying from us.
