Nanking

Nanking is located at 119 Hi Tension Road in Mysore. We are in the Vijaynagar 2nd Stage area, right across from Vidyavardhak College. Because of the college, we see a lot of students coming in between their classes. They are usually in a hurry and want things done quickly. The road outside is quite busy, especially in the evenings when everyone is heading home. The building isn't very new, so we have to fix things here and there quite often. Inside, it smells like soy sauce and ginger most of the time. The kitchen is always noisy with the sound of the exhaust fan and the metal pans clanking together. I spend a lot of my time taking orders and making sure the tables are wiped down. It gets pretty crowded during the lunch hour and sometimes people have to wait outside on the sidewalk. We don't have fancy decorations, just some simple tables and chairs that have been here for years. The floor is a bit worn out from all the people walking on it. We keep the lights a bit dim because it feels better that way. Sometimes the electricity cuts out and we have to use the backup, which is always a bit of a hassle. It’s just a local spot for people to grab some Chinese food without any fuss. We’ve been at this Mysore address for a good while now and know the regulars well.
